Featured Project

Welcome!

Welcome to Anacortes Parks Foundation's new site!  Since our beginning in 1994 we have spent 1.2 million dollars on Fidalgo and Guemes Islands and are often asked to describe our foundation.  Hopefully from our new site you will learn more about what we do, and perhaps participate in our programs.

The website has been designed so that you'll know what we're doing, and what we've done to satisfy recreational and leisure-time activity needs in our area.  We've also partnered with the City of Anacortes, Skagit County, and other agencies to display most recreational facilities and programs that are available to residents and visitors on Fidalgo and Guemes Islands.  You'll find that in our Parks List section.

Trestle Fundraising Effort Coming

The Anacortes Parks Foundation and the City are gearing up to launch a formal fund-raising drive to raise the funds needed to rebuild the trestle.  Click here for current information on the fundraising status.

Other Project Happenings.....

This past year, we have dedicated Kiwanis Meadows, a professionally constructed family playfield intended to not only offer a football-size field for frisbees, kite flying, field games, and general family fun, but for soccer as well.  Funded by the Noon Kiwanis Club, AFP managed construction of the facility.  A contiguous playground and half basketball court have been finished, with dedication planned for fall.

Bid Packages are going out for the construction of Phase 1 of SHIP (Ship Harbor Interpretive Preserve).  A project of APF, SHIP boasts a 2,500 foot interpretive trail through the wetlands at Ship Harbor.  See more under Projects.
