Grant Guidelines

The Anacortes Parks Foundation (APF), a nonprofit, public foundation that manages park-related projects and administers charitable contributions for local programs, accepts grant applications two times per year for parks and recreation-related projects and programs on Fidalgo and Guemes islands. The grants are funded by the Puget Sound Energy leasing agreement with the Kiwanis Noon Club for use of land on Mount Erie. In addition, APF is seeking other local program ideas, for Anacortes and surrounding Fidalgo Island, to facilitate through future contributions and grants from various other sources.>

General range of the grants to be awarded will be between $250 and $2,000. The number and size of grants awarded will be at the discretion of the Board. APF reserves the right to earmark funding for specific budgetary items and line-item veto budgetary items within an application.

All projects must:

  • be used for projects exclusively on Fidalgo and Guemes islands
  • demonstrate a highly favorable cost/benefit ratio (benefit of the number of residents per dollar spent)
  • include adult supervision if children are involved
  • include regular reports to APF at a schedule and structure outlined at the time of the grant approval

The grants cannot be used for:

  • the purchase of real estate
  • endowments
  • salaries
  • conferences, scientific research or land trusts
  • political or religious projects or programs
  • projects or programs likely to result in public disputes.

Grant application forms and guidelines may be requested by mail to Anacortes Parks Foundation, P.O. Box 1902, Anacortes, WA 98221. The grants will be awarded twice per calendar year. Decisions of the foundation's Board of Trustees will be made within six weeks of announced deadlines.
