Completed Projects

Kiwanis Meadows
This year Kiwanis Meadows was completed and dedicated as a farmily park that can be used for soccer and other recreational purposes. A playground and half-basketball court, and more parking at the north end completes the "Family Park" project, and we are very proud of the effort. Funds were generously donated by the local Noon Kiwanis Club. Planning and construction was managed by APF with much help from the City of Anacortes and local contractors.
Tommy Thompson Trestle Rebuild
The repairs have been completed and the Trestle is Open!! Thanks to all who participated in this effort! Check out the photo gallery of the fire, the rebuild, and the reopening.
Our Town Our Park
With funding managed by the APF, this enthusiastic community project resulted in a spectacular play area at Storvik Park. Additional work has been recently completd to include a covered picnic area.
Kiwanis Waterfront Park
This two-acre park at 6th and "I" Avenue was recently dedicated as a joint effort by the Anacortes Parks Foundation, local Kiwanis Clubs and the City of Anacortes. The picnic tables, benches, and pathways overlook the beach and offer views of Guemes channel and the San Juan Islands.
Ben Root Skate Park
Located at "R" Avenue at the beginning of 22nd St., within the 10 acre Alice Parchman Newland Park. The park is adjacent to our waterfront industries and the newly completed Tommy Thompson Parkway, and offers good view of Fidalgo Bay, nearby islands and mountains.
Anacortes Labryinth Project
Labryinths are now found in many community parks, churches and public facilities. They are available for mediation, contemplation, or self reflection. This is a great project for Anacortes because it benefits people of all ages and denominations. It will be wheelchair and walker accessible. Please help us bring this great project to Anacortes. Donations can be made by clicking on the Donations tab. Find us on Facebook at "Anacortes Meditative Labyrinth". You may also purchase an engraved brick to be laid near the labyrinth. $50 donation for one line of engraving $100 donation for two lines of engraving 20 characters and/or spaces per line. Washington Park Playground
In September, 2007, the Noon Kiwanis Club, the City of Anacortes, and Anacortes Parks Foundation dedicated a new playground at Washington Park. Unique in design, and popular with children and parents, this project is indeed a complement to the beautiful Washington Park.
Guemes Channel Trail Work is underway to link the Tommy Thompson Trail to the San Juan Ferry. http://www.guemeschanneltrail.com/
